Basic Troubleshooting Tips
Power
Verify that the following are all powered on:
Cluster nodes
StorageWorks RAID Array 4000s (RA4000 Arrays) or StorageWorks
RAID Array 4100s (RA4100 Arrays)
Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel SAN Switches (Fibre Channel
SAN Switches), Compaq StorageWorks Storage Hubs (Storage Hubs),
or Compaq StorageWorks FC-AL Switches (FC-AL Switches)
Switches or hubs for the cluster interconnect
The correct power-on sequence is:
RA4000 Arrays or RA4100 Arrays
Fibre Channel SAN Switches, FC-AL Switches, or Storage Hubs
(Storage Hub power is applied when the AC cord is plugged in.)
Ethernet switches/hubs
ProLiant servers
NOTE: The Storage Hub and some network hub or switch devices do not have on/off
buttons; they receive power when the power cord is plugged in.
Physical Connections
Verify that all cable connections between the following components are
properly made. Where redundant connections exist, be sure that the redundant
paths are cabled correctly between:
Cluster nodes and the cluster interconnect switches or hubs
Cluster nodes and the client LAN switches or hubs
Fibre Host Adapters in the cluster nodes and the Storage Hubs, FC-AL
Switches, or Fibre Channel SAN Switches
Storage Hubs, FC-AL Switches, or Fibre Channel SAN Switches and
the Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 4000 Controllers (RA4000
Array Controllers) installed in each RA4000/RA4100 Array
