Site Planning
You must carefully select and prepare the site to ensure a smooth installation
and a safe and efficient work environment. To select and prepare a location for
your cluster, consider the following:
■ The path from the receiving dock to the installation area
■ Availability of appropriate equipment and qualified personnel
■ Space for unpacking, installing, and servicing the computer equipment
■ Sufficient floor strength for the computer equipment
■ Cabling requirements, including the placement of network and Fibre
Channel cables within one room (under the subfloor, on the floor, or
overhead) and possibly between rooms
■ Client LAN resource planning, including the number of hubs or
switches and cables to connect to the cluster nodes
■ Environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and air
quality
■ Power, including voltage, current, grounding, noise, outlet type, and
equipment proximity
IMPORTANT: Carefully review the power requirements for your cluster components to
identify special electrical supply needs in advance.
