Removal and Replacement Procedures 2-35
CPU Fan
To remove the CPU fan:
1. Complete the preparation procedures. See Powering Down the Server earlier in this
chapter.
2. Remove the server cover. See Server Cover earlier in this chapter.
3. Remove the processor(s) from the processor retaining posts. See Processor earlier in this
chapter.
4. Remove the two processor retaining posts closest to the CPU fan.
5. Remove the four screws securing the fan assembly to the chassis.
6. Unplug the CPU fan assembly from the system board .
7. Remove the CPU fan from the back of the chassis .
