Accessing Non-Hot-Plug Areas
Move the server Power On/Standby switch to the Standby position and remove
the power cord(s) before installing options, upgrades, or replacements.
Accessing Processors, Memory Sockets, System
Board, and Removable Media Area
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the
internal system components to cool before touching.
CAUTION:
Before removing the server access panel be sure that the server is in
Standby mode and that the power cord(s) are disconnected from the electrical
outlet.
CAUTION:
Electrostatic discharge can damage electronic components. Be sure
you are properly grounded before beginning any installation procedure.
1.
Back up your server data.
2.
Shut down the operating system as directed in your operating system
instructions.
3.
Move the server Power On/Standby switch to the Standby position. The
Power LED will turn to Amber when the server has been successfully
placed into Standby power mode.
CAUTION:
Moving your server Power On/Standby switch to the Standby position
removes power from most areas of the server; this may take up to 30 seconds.
Portions of the power supply and some internal circuitry remain active until AC
power is removed.
4.
Remove the power cords.
5.
Loosen the two thumbscrews on the front bezel of the unit that secure
the unit to the rack 1.
