This chapter describes basic administrative procedures related to remote access and monitoring and
completes the setup procedu res that were started in the HP P roLiant Data Protection Storage Server
installation guide that comes with your ser ver.
Remote Browser
This method of remote access allows you to place a DHCP-enabled storage server on a D HCP-enabled
network and b rowse to the server. Knowing the serial number of the storage server or its IP address, you
can log in to a network port. Instructions for setting up Remote Browser are explained in the HP P roLiant
Data Protec
tion Storage Ser ver installation guide.
Connecting to the storage server permits you to a ccess the HP Data Protection Storage Server
Management console (Figure 14). From the console, you can access s n ap-ins that allow complete
server sy st
em management.

Remote Desktop through the HP Data Protection Storage
Server Management console
Remote Desktop provides the ability for you to log on to and remotely administer your server, giving you
a method of manag ing it from any client. Installed for remote administration, Remote Desktop allows only
two concurrent sessions. Leaving a session running takes up one license and can affect other users. If
two sessions a re running, additional users will be denied access.
