Rack Deployment Options
The ProLiant DL380 Generation 2 server supports several rack-mounting
options for racks not manufactured by Compaq:
■ Telco rack—a set of adjustable rack brackets that support installation in
Telco racks
■ Third-party rack—a set of adjustable rack brackets that support
installation and serviceability in various 48.26 cm (19-inch) four-post
cabinet racks not manufactured by Compaq
Preparation Procedures
To prepare the server for installing new hardware, you may need to complete
the following procedures:
■ Power down the server.
■ Remove the access panel.
■ Remove the air baffle.
■ Identify the system board components.
Powering Down the Server
To install non-hot-plug hardware options, you must first remove all power
from the system. To power down the server:
1. Back up your server data.
2. Shut down the operating system as directed in your operating system
instructions.
NOTE: Steps 3 and 5 apply to servers that are mounted in a rack.
