Installing Hardware Options
This chapter provides information and procedures for installing hardware
options in ProLiant DL380 Generation 2 servers. For complete instructions,
refer to the installation documentation shipped with each hardware kit. Refer
to the following items for an illustrated guide to installing Compaq upgrades:
■ Hardware installation and configuration poster shipped with your server
■ Labels attached to the inside of the system access panel
To streamline the installation process, read the installation instructions for all
of the hardware options and identify similar steps before installing the
hardware options.
After you install hardware options, proceed with the server installation
instructions in Chapter 4, “Installing the Server.”
If you encounter any problems during installation, contact your Compaq
authorized reseller.
WARNINGS: To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment:
■ Heed all warnings and cautions throughout the installation instructions.
■ Allow internal system components to cool before touching any surfaces.
CAUTION: Properly ground the server before beginning any installation
procedure. Improper grounding can cause electrostatic discharge, which can
damage electronic components. For more information, see Appendix B,
“Electrostatic Discharge.”
