Integrated Management Log
The IML records hundreds of events and stores them in an easy-to-view form.
The IML time-stamps each event with one-minute granularity.
Identifying Severity Levels
Events listed in the IML are categorized as one of four event severity levels:
Statusindicates that the message is informational only
Repairedindicates that corrective action was taken
Cautionindicates a non-fatal error condition occurred
Criticalindicates a component failure has occurred
IML requires Compaq operating system-dependent drivers. Refer to the
SmartStart CD for instructions on installing the appropriate drivers.
Viewing the Log
You can view recorded events in the IML in several ways, including the
following:
From within the Compaq Insight Manager XE
From within the Compaq Survey Utility

Compaq Insight Manager XE
Compaq Insight Manager XE is a server management tool that provides in-
depth fault, configuration, and performance monitoring of hundreds of
Compaq servers from a single management console. The system parameters
that are monitored describe the status of all key server components. By being
able to view the events that may occur to these components, you can take
immediate action.
