Configuring Online Spare Memory
To configure online spare memory:
1. Install the required DIMMs. See the “Memory” and “Installing DIMMs”
sections in Chapter 3, “Installing Hardware Options.”
IMPORTANT: If your DIMM configuration does not meet the criteria for online spare
memory support, the system does not allow you to configure this feature.
2. Access RBSU by pressing the F9 key during power up when the prompt
displays in the lower right corner of the screen.
3. Select Advanced Options.
4. Select Advanced Memory Protection.
5. Select Online Spare Support.
6. Press the Enter key.
7. Press the Esc key to exit the current menu or press the F10 key to exit
RBSU.
Redundant ROM Support
Compaq ProLiant DL380 Generation 2 servers enable you to upgrade or
configure your ROM safely with redundant ROM support. The server has a
2-MB ROM that acts as two, separate 1-MB ROMs. In the standard
implementation, one side of the ROM contains the current ROM program
version, while the other side of the ROM contains a backup version.
Safety and Security Benefits
When you flash the system ROM, ROMPaq writes over the backup ROM and
saves the current ROM as a backup, enabling you to switch easily to the
existing ROM version if the new ROM becomes corrupted for any reason.
This feature protects your existing ROM version, even if you experience a
power failure while flashing the ROM.
