Removing the PCI Riser Board Assembly
To install an expansion board, you must remove the PCI riser board assembly
from the chassis. An expansion board is inserted into the riser board before the
assembly is reinserted into the chassis.
Use the following procedure to remove the PCI riser board assembly:
CAUTION: To avoid damaging your system or expansion boards, remove all AC
power cords before installing or removing an expansion board. When the front
panel power switch is in the off position, auxiliary power is still connected to the
PCI expansion slot and may damage the card.
1. Power down the server. See “Powering Down the Server” earlier in this
chapter.
2. Remove the access panel. See “Removing the Access Panel” earlier in
this chapter.
3. Disconnect any cables leading from any existing expansion board in the
system board.
4. Loosen the PCI riser board thumbscrew .
5. Lift the assembly from the server chassis.

CAUTION: When removing the PCI riser board assembly, avoid damage to the
system board power cable.
