HP ProLiant DL2000 server technologies

Figure 3. One watt saved at the server component level, such as in a power supply, results in cumulative savings of about
2.35 watts in total data center consumption
High-efficiency power supplies reduce wasted power
and let you utilize the existing power better in
the data center. For example, the savings associated with each 1200W 94% efficient power supply
per year over a 90% efficient power supply:
1200W at 50% load = 600W x 4% improvement= 24W savings
24W power supply savings x 2.35W Data Center savings ~ 60W Total Savings
$0.10 per kWh = .00010 watt x 8760 annual hrs = $.87 per watt/year
60W x $.87 per watt per year = $52 annual savings per power supply
Serviceability
The DL2000 offers improved serviceability with hot-pluggable nodes, power supplies, and localized
fan assignments.
Hot-pluggable nodes
The DL2000 f
eatures hot-pluggable, individual nodes that you can remove without affecting the
operation of other nodes. This makes the DL2000 easier to service and increases the time a node can
run. Hot-pluggable nodes increase the availability of computing power for dense environments. The
nodes also provide additional configuration options for different application requirements. The 1U
and 2U trays include a handle to remove or insert the hot-pluggable nodes.
Figure 4 illustrates the removable, individual nodes and power supplies in a DL2000 chassis.
