HP ProLiant DL2000 server technologies

Riser options
The DL2000 supports one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot per node for the 1U node. For the 2U node, it supports
up to three PCIe slots per node – more than any other multi-node server in the industry. This PCIe slot
capability supports both dual-width and up to 300W graphics cards. HP used signal integrity testing
to evaluate multiple PCIe options to make sure the system could communicate reliably and support the
three PCIe slot configuration.
PCIe riser options offer additional I/O that lets you optimize the DL2000 for varying applications. The
following PCIe options are available for 2U nodes:
Three slots: one x16 full-height, full length; one x4 full-height, half length; and one x4 low-profile
Three slots: one x8 full-height, full-length; one x8 full-height half-length; and one x8 low-profile
Two slots: one x16 full-height, full-length slot and one x8 low-profile slot
Disk drive options
The DL2000
allocates drives based on number of nodes in the chassis. Each node has an embedded
SATA controller. Hot-plug SATA disk drives require the advanced pack for the embedded SATA
controller. The DL2000 also offers optional hot-plug SATA or SAS drives. Using SAS drives requires a
Smart Array Controller in the node.
A larger drive cage increases spindle count per node and allows more configuration options. The
DL2000 offers three drive cages that can house up to 8 large form factor or 24 small form factor SAS
or SATA disk drives:
8 LFF disk drives
(A 12 LFF HDD cage is available only for special order, large volume opportunities - consult your
HP representative for details.)
16 SFF disk drives
24 SFF disk drives
