Installing the F5 Networks BIG-IP Blade Controller
Obtain a license certificate using one of the following methods:

Automatic license activation
For this method to succeed, the target server blade must be installed on a network
with direct Internet access. The automatic license activation method retrieves and
submits the dossier to the F5 Networks license server and installs the signed
license certificate.
Perform automatic license activation either from the BIG-IP command line
interface or from the BIG-IP software user interface (F5 Configuration Utility).
Refer to “Automatically Activating a License from the Command Line Interface”
or “Automatically Activating a License Using the Configuration Utility” for
instructions.
Manual license activation
This method is for systems that run behind a firewall, or in other network
environments that do not have direct Internet access. This process requires an
administrative workstation that can access both the BIG-IP system and the
Internet. With the manual license activation method, manually submit the dossier
to and retrieve the signed license file from the F5 Networks license server.
Perform automatic license activation from the BIG-IP software user interface
(Configuration Utility). Refer to “Manually Activating a License Using the
Configuration Utility” for instructions.
