4. Connecting to a switch
Connect the RPS and EPS cables from the supported network switches to the
appropriate ports on the external power supply. See “Recommended Connec-
tion Topologies” on page 5-26.
HP 600 RPS/EPS Port Connections
Connecting RPS Ports to Switches.
To co nn ect:
Push the RPS cable plug into the desired
RPS port until the thumb screws engage
with the screw holes in the unit. Tighten
the plug thumb screws to secure the
connection.
When power is on for the HP 600 RPS/
EPS and for the connected switch, the
Device Connected LED should go on to
confirm a powered-on switch is at the
other end of the cable.
If the Device Connected LED does not
go on when the RPS cable is connected
to the port, see Diagnosing with the
LEDs in chapter 6, “Troubleshooting.”
Note Connect switches to the RPS ports based on their priority, with the highest
priority switch connected to port 1.
To disconnect:
Unscrew the thumb screws on the plug and pull the plug out of the port.

• The cable connectors are keyed and can
only be attached in one orientation
