Introducing the HP 630 Redundant and/or External Power Supply
RPS Port Operation
RPS Port on the HP 630 RPS/EPS
The HP 630 RPS/EPS has one RPS port. You can connect only one HP switch
and provide it with backup power. This port can connect to any compatible
HP switch -- any switch with a blue-colored RPS port.
EPS Port on the HP 630 RPS/EPS
The HP 630 RPS/EPS has one EPS port. You can connect only one HP PoE+
capable switch to provide PoE+ power as a primary or backup source. PoE+
products are different from legacy PoE products -- This product does not
support legacy PoE switches to provide them with PoE power. The magenta-
colored EPS ports on the HP 630 RPS/EPS can be connected only to magenta-
colored EPS ports on HP switches. The EPS port provides the maximum
power (398 W).
Port Status LEDs
The RPS and EPS port status LEDs on the HP 630 RPS/EPS back panel are a
duplication of those on the front panel. For a description of these LEDs, see
Table 4-1 on page 4-2.
Power Connector
The HP 630 RPS/EPS does not have a power switch; it is powered on when
connected to an active AC power source. The HP 630 RPS/EPS automatically
adjusts to any voltage between 100-127 and 200-240 volts and either 50 or 60
Hz. There are no voltage range settings required.
RPS Port Operation
The HP 630 RPS/EPS can be connected to only one switch through the RPS
cable. The unit provides the +12 VDC to the switch in case the internal system
power supply in the switch or the AC power source for the switch fails.
