9.6 HP Pay per use Utility Meter II Software Installation and Configuration Guide (October 2012)
Installation and Configuration Guide
Chapter 1: Introduction
The HP Utility Billing Engine processes usage data from the Utility Database once per month and
billing information is sent to the customer. For PPU resources, the monthly bill contains a fixed
amount for the hardware, software and services and a variable amount that represents the
processor usage. The variable amount is based on the usage of the UPS resources (core usage).
For URS the monthly bill contains only a variable amount. That amount is the sum of the cost for
the hardware, software, services and the usage of the UPS resources (disk space).
Customers can monitor their usage information on the secure HP Utility Pricing Solutions Web
Portal located at: http://www.hp.com/go/payperuse.
For details on the collection and flow of metered Usage Data to HP, see Figure 1.1.

The communication from the Utility Meter to the PPU Partition runs over https (TCP port 5989). The
communication from the Utility Meter to the Onboard Administrator (OA) runs over https (TCP port
443). These ports must be open from the Utility Meter to any PPU partition or OA that needs to be
metered. No non-transparent proxy server can be configured between the PPU partition(s) or the
OA and the Utility Meter.
The communication from the Utility Meter to disk arrays runs over TCP ports that are described in
the manuals for Command View Advanced Edition (CVAE) and Command View EVA (CV EVA).
Please consult these manuals for more information. The communication from the Utility Meter to
the 3PAR Inform server runs over https (TCP port 5989).
