Installation and Configuration Guide
Chapter 2: Installing and Configuring the Utility Meter Software
Important: The CD should automatically eject after the install is complete. If the CD does not
eject, make sure to eject the CD before the system reboots, otherwise the installation begins
again.
Installing Using Integrated Lights-Out
To install the Utility Meter software using Integrated Lights-Out (iLO), complete the following steps:
1. Use Firefox or Internet Explorer to set up the Utility Meter software image. Log into iLO using
the credentials (URL, Username, and Password) that are located on the tag that comes with
the DL 320 server.
2. Select the Virtual Media tab and then select Virtual Media Applet. A virtual media (Java
Dialog) appears.
a. In the Virtual CD/DVD-ROM section, select Local Image File.
b. Click Browse to locate the ISO image that you obtained in Obtaining the Utility Meter
Software.
c. Click Connect.
3. Return to the iLO window and select the Remote Console tab and click the Remote Console
link. A Remote Console opens.
4. Go back to the iLO window and select the Power Management tab.
5. Click Reset or Cold Boot.
6. The Utility Meter software installation will start. Monitor the console for any installation errors.
7. Once the installation is completed, the system will reboot automatically. When the system
begins rebooting, make sure to return to the Virtual Media dialog and disconnect the ISO image
from the virtual media, otherwise the installation will repeat after the system reboots.
8. Once the install is complete and the system has rebooted, log on as user umeter (default
password: h.lnxmtr). To verify that the Utility Meter application is running, execute the
following command :
$ umadmin status
The output should be similar to the following:
/opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/bin/ucd is running as pid 31962
The Process ID (pid) number may differ from your output. If the process is not running, stop
and restart the Utility Meter application by executing the following commands:
a.
$ umadmin stop
b.
$ umadmin start
9. Enter the umadmin configure command to perform the required minimum Utility Meter
configuration.
Note: At a minimum, you need to run umadmin configure to configure the hostname and
network parameters at this point during the installation, otherwise the Graphical User
Interface (GUI) will not open properly.
