Installation and Configuration Guide
Chapter 1: Introduction
l For Utility Ready Storage EVA installations:
n HP StorageWorks Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU) version 9.3 communicating with
CV EVA version 9.3.0.
n SSSU version 9.4 communicating with CV EVA version 9.4.0.
The latest version of SSSU that the Utility Meter software was tested against is installed with
the Utility Meter software in the /home/umeter/SSSU directory. If you want to use this version
of SSSU, you do not need to install SSSU or run SetupSSSU. If you want to install a different
version of SSSU, see section: “URS EVA Only – Installing the CV EVA SSSU Software” for
details.
l For Utility Ready Storage XP installations:
n HP StorageWorks Command View Advanced Edition Command Line Interface (CVAE CLI)
version 6.4 communicating with CVAE version 6.4.
n CVAE CLI version 7.0.1 communicating with CVAE version 7.0.1.
n CVAE CLI version 7.1.0 communicating with CVAE version 7.1.0.
The latest version of the CVAE CLI that the Utility Meter software was tested against is
installed with the Utility Meter software in the /home/umeter/CLI directory. If you want to
use this version of CVAE CLI, you do not need to install CVAE CLI or run SetupCLI. If you want
to install a different version of CVAE CLI, see section:“URS XP Only – Installing the CVAE CLI
Software” for details.
l For Utility Ready Storage 3PAR installations:
InForm OS version 2.3.1.
Utility Meter Software Back Up
The Utility Meter configuration files include a list of devices being monitored and should be backed
up on a regular basis. You should also back up the folder that contains the configuration files:
/opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/conf
Utility Meter Directory Structure
The Utility Meter software creates the following directories and files:
l Binaries and libraries
n /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter — Unified Collector home directory: Value of $UC_
HOME
n /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/bin — executables for ucd daemon, Utility Meter
CLI (umadmin), SetupCLI and SetupSSSU
n /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/lib — shared objects for ucd daemon
n /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/modules — plug-in directory for ucd daemon
n /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/sbin — transporter and Utility Meter setup binaries
and collection scripts
