1.3.1 Utility Meter Software Back Up
The Utility Meter configuration files should be backed up on a regular basis because they include a list of
devices being monitored. The folder that contains the configuration files,
/opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/conf, should be backed up using a method of your choice.
1.3.2 Utility Meter Directory Structure
The Utility Meter software creates the following directories and files:
• Binaries and libraries
/opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter — Unified Collector home directory: Value of $UC_HOME•
• /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/bin — executables for ucd daemon and Utility Meter
CLI
• /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/lib — shared objects for ucd daemon
• /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/modules — plug-in directory for ucd daemon
• /opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/sbin — transporter and Utility Meter setup binaries
• Configuration files
/etc/opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/config — xml configuration files for ucd•
• /etc/init.d — monit and ucd control scripts
• /etc/mail — sendmail configuration
• Miscellaneous configuration, data collection results and logs
/var/opt/hp/RemoteSupport/umeter/data/connectionmethods — configuration files
for connection methods

1.4 Installation and Support Services
The installation of the Utility Meter software cannot be performed by the customer. An installation service
(HP part number HA113A1 Option 57B for PPU) is required for Utility Meter software installation. An HP
Services representative installs the Utility Meter software by using the
Service Delivery Guide
(SDG) and the
HP Pay per use Utility Meter II Software Installation and Configuration Guide
(this guide). For details of
installing the Utility Meter software, see Chapter 2: “Installing and Configuring the Utility Meter Software”.
Hardware maintenance is covered by the standard warranty that comes with the HP ProLiant DL 320 server.
