8.16 HP Utility Meter User's Guide (June 2010)
• For URS EVA installations, the the HP StorageWorks Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU) software
on the Utility Meter:
• Is not installed on the Utility Meter.
• The version of SSSU installed is not compatible with the version of CV EVA monitoring the EVA.
The following combinations are supported:
• SSSU version 9.0.0 with CV EVA version 9.01.00
• SSSU version 9.2.0 with CV EVA version 9.02.00
No other combinations are allowed.
• For URS XP installations, the HP StorageWorks XP Command View Advanced Edition Command Line
Interface (XP CLI) software on the Utility Meter:
• Is not installed on the Utility Meter.
• Is not the correct version (6.2 or 6.3).
• Has not been configured to avoid inventory conflicts. For details of avoiding inventory conflicts,
see Section 4.8.5: “XP Only – Verifying the Correct Version of CV XP AE CLI is Installed”.
• The version of XP CLI installed on the meter must be less than or equal to the version of XP Command
View Advanced Edition installed on the Command View server for the array being monitored.
• One or more of the URS processes on the Utility Meter stopped working.
• The network connectivity to HP is broken.
• At least one vdisk on the EVA or one LDEV on the XP has been presented to a host. If this is not the
case, usage reports may be produced but no usage data will be posted on the public URS portal.
5.4 Fixing a Disconnected Device (with Red Box)
A device that is not correctly configured in the Utility Meter appears in the Managed Devices Tree with
a red box next to the Command View (CV) server's IP address. See Figure 5-1: “Disconnected Device (with
red box)” for an example.
There are at least six situations that may cause a device to be incorrectly configured in the Utility Meter:
• The Utility Meter application was started and the Utility Meter GUI was used shortly thereafter to add
a storage device.
• A disk array was currently manipulated by some other application (for example, Command View or
SVP) while you attempted to use the Utility Meter GUI to configure storage.
• A value is incorrectly typed into the Add Device dialog box during the device's entry into the Utility
Meter.
• There is a connection problem with the EVA or XP Command View server.
• The SAN switch is powered down or unreachable.
• The SMI-S Agent is down, unreachable or misconfigured.
The following figure shows a disconnected device in the Managed Devices Tree.
