8.16 HP Utility Meter User's Guide (June 2010)

NOTE: You must be logged in with account that belongs to the umeter group (GID 105) to start the
Utility Meter GUI.
The following assumes:
You are running the Utility Meter GUI on the Utility Meter system.
A graphical display is attached to the Utility Meter system or software for X-Windows emulation
is running.
To start the Utility Meter GUI, execute the following command:
# /opt/meter/bin/umGUI
Using a web browser:
Open a web browser and type in the following URL:
/opt/hpws/apache/htdocs/UtilityMeterApplet.jnlp
Microsoft Internet Explorer has been tested to work fine.
By either using the X-Windows capable procedure or the web browser procedure, the window in Figure 3-1
appears showing the Utility Meter GUI.

NOTE: If the Utility Meter GUI does not appear and you see this error:
"Exception in thread "main" java.awt.HeadlessException:
No X11 DISPLAY variable was set, but this program performed an operation which requires it. ..."
