8.16 HP Utility Meter User's Guide (June 2010)

2.12.3 Verifying Hostname Masquerading
NOTE: You must use Ctrl-D to exit from the interactive sendmail application.
To verify the hostname masquerading, execute the following test as root. (The -C option in the sendmail
command defines the location of the sendmail configuration file):
# /usr/sbin/sendmail -bt -C /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
> $j
(Where $j is the fully qualified hostname of the Utility Meter)
meter.corp.example.com
> $M
(Where $M is the effect of masquerading)
corp.example.com
> Ctrl-D
If any of the masquerading tests do not work, check the sendmail configuration file and ensure that hostname
masquerading is implemented (through the DM macro):
IMPORTANT: The domainname must be resolvable in DNS for HP to accept email from the Utility Meter.
2.13 Configuring PPU Partitions and URS Devices
Depending on whether the Utility Meter will be metering Pay per use (PPU) server partitions or Utility Ready
Storage (URS) devices (or both), see the following for configuration information:
For Pay per use (PPU) WBEM Partitions/Servers that need to be metered by the Utility Meter, configure
the PPU partitions by adding them as a PPU WBEM Partition/Server. For more information about this
type of configuration, see Section 3.5.1.1: “Add a PPU WBEM Partition/Server”.
PPU Agent server partitions can be configured using the appropriate PPU Agent software command on
each PPU partition. For more information about configuration via PPU Agent software, see the specific
PPU User's Guide
, which can be located in Section 7: “Related Documents.
For URS devices that need to be metered by the Utility Meter, configure the devices in the Utility Meter
GUI. For more information about this type of configuration, see Section 3.5: “Utility Meter Devices
Tasks.
2.14 Verifying the Utility Meter Operation

The HP-UX system parameters were modified
The Utility Meter software was installed or reinstalled
The Utility Meter parameters were modified
