1.4.1 Utility Meter Software Dependencies
The Utility Meter software is dependent on the following HP software:
• For Utility Ready Storage EVA installations:
HP StorageWorks Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU) version 9.0.0 communicating with CV EVA
version 9.01.00 or SSSU version 9.2.0 communicating with CV EVA version 9.2.0.
For installation details, see Section 2.7: “URS EVA Only – Installing the CV EVA SSSU Software”.
• For Utility Ready Storage XP installations:
HP StorageWorks XP Command View Advanced Edition Command Line Interface (CLI) version 6.2 or
6.3 with its latest patch. The version of the CLI software on the meter must be equal to or lower than
the version of the Command View software installed on the XP Command View server(s).
For installation details, see Section 2.8: “URS XP Only – Installing the CV XP AE CLI Software”.
• For Utility Ready Storage VLS device installations:
VLS firmware versions 2.3.1 and 3.3.1.
For setup details, see Section 4.8.6: “VLS Only – Verifying the Correct Version of VLS Firmware is
Installed”.
• For Utility Ready Storage Cisco SAN switch installations:
The CIM Server must be enabled on the switch.
For details about enabling CIM Server, see Section 2.10: “URS Cisco SAN Switch Only – Enabling
the CIM Server”.
• For Utility Ready Storage HP/Brocade SAN switch installations:
Brocade SMI-S Agent software version 120.10.0. Brocade/HP firmware 6.2.x or 6.3.x.

Agent Software”.
1.4.2 Utility Meter Software Back Up
The Utility Meter does not need to be backed up on a regular basis because all relevant information it gathers
is sent in near real time to HP. An Ignite image recovery archive can be created to restore the Utility Meter
software onto the same type of hardware.
1.4.3 Utility Meter Directory Structure
The Utility Meter software creates the following new directories and files:
• /opt/meter/bin — Executables for Utility Meter installation and troubleshooting
• /opt/meter/sbin — Executables for sendmail configurations
• /opt/meter/images — gif images for the Utility Meter GUI
• /opt/meter/newconfig — Master copy of all files installed
• /opt/meter/security — PAM library (only created on HP-UX 11.23)
• /opt/meter/share — Documents and manpages
• /opt/meter/wbem — WBEM libraries for PPU
• /opt/meter/skel — Bourne shell profile
• /etc/opt/meter — Location for Utility Meter configuration file (meter.xml)
