services) and a variable amount. The variable amount is based on the usage of the UPS resources (disk
space, core usage, and/or SAN switch ports).
Customers can monitor their usage information on the secure HP Utility Pricing Solutions Web Portal located
at: http://www.hp.com/go/payperuse.
For details on the collection and the flow of metered Usage Data to HP, see Figure 1-1.

The communication from the Utility Meter to the PPU Partition runs over https (TCP port 5989). This port must
be open from the Utility Meter to any PPU partition that needs to be metered. No non-transparent proxy
server can be configured between the PPU partition(s) and the Utility Meter.
The communication from the Utility Meter to disk arrays runs over TCP ports that are described in the manuals
for Command View AE and CV EVA. Please consult these manuals for more information.
The communication from the Utility Meter to SAN switches can use either https (TCP port 5989) or http (TCP
port 5988). For HP/Brocade SAN switches, these ports can be changed by the user, for Cisco switches the
port numbers are fixed. The ports must be open from the Utility Meter to the SMI-S Agent for HP/Brocade
switches and to any Cisco SAN switch that needs to be metered.
