HP StorageWorks P9000 Application Performance Extender Software 2.0 Release Notes
Enhancements
P9000 Application Performance Extender v2.0 includes the following enhancements:
• Supports P9500 disk arrays.
• Robust error handling mechanism for data collection failures.
• Enhanced the communication agent to perform environmental checks during start up to verify if
the host environment supports P9000 Application Performance Extender. This information is dis-
played in the Data Collection screen.
Notes
• A host can be connected to only one P9500, XP24000, or XP20000 array.
• A maximum of four XP or P9500 disk arrays only is supported per management station.
• P9000 Application Performance Extender supports one controller per XP or P9500 disk array.
For multiple XP or P9500 disk arrays, multiple instances of the controller on different hosts accessing
each of the arrays are required.
• The IP address of the hosts should not be changed after installation.
• If the management station is down for a certain duration, the controller works with the set SLO
values, but performance data for that duration is not available.
• After a PRM group configuration change, configuration data must be collected again for that host.
• The host IP address does not have to be specified during the installation of the communication
agent.
• If a management station has been restarted, host discovery will take a while depending on the
number of hosts connected to the management station. For example, a set up with 32 hosts con-
nected to a single management station will take two to eight minutes.
• If you add or configure ports on XP arrays, or add new MP Blades in P9500 disk arrays, ensure
that you restart the controller.
• Perceptible workload differentiation may not be achieved with P9000 Application Performance
Extender in certain low or medium load conditions.
• For highly oscillating or random workload conditions, HP recommends that you set bandwidth
targets.
• You can hide offline hosts, but you cannot remove hosts that are registered with the management
station.
• If command devices are not accessible by the controller that is functioning, you must manually set
the command devices after restoring its availability. To set command devices, click Use Command
Devices on the Controller Settings screen.
• If the controller service is not stopped properly, XP and P9500 disk array performance may be
impacted.
• During the removal or reinstallation of the management station, ensure that you remove the Post-
greSQL server and ODBC driver.
• To view performance graphs for more than two workloads, ensure that you reset the sliders to
their original position.
