Notice to Users
This CD lets you restore the HP OpenView Storage Management Appliance I (SMA I, previously
SANworks Management Appliance) to Storage Management Appliance software v2.1. This entire
procedure requires approximately 60 minutes to complete.
Note: This QuickRestore CD is restricted for use with the HP OpenView Storage Management
Appliance I. It cannot be used with any other management appliance versions.
Installed Software and Software Versions
Storage Management Appliance software v2.1 installed software components consist of the following:
■ HP OpenView Storage Management Appliance software v2.1
■ HP StorageWorks Command View EVA v3.0a
■ HP StorageWorks HSG Element Manager v1.0f
■ HP Insight Management Agents v6.30
Existing Storage Allocation Reporter Customers
Once you install SMA software v2.1, Storage Allocation Reporter (SAR) is no longer operational on the
Storage Management Appliance.
Caution: This QuickRestore CD restores the SMA to SMA software v2.1. Do not reinstall SAR
on SMA software v2.1 as this may cause unexpected results.
If you are an existing SAR customer, please contact your HP representative to upgrade your software.
Restoring the Storage Management Appliance I
Caution: All passwords, the system name, user configurations, software updates, and
database settings will be reset. Check system configurations and document all passwords, the
system name, client configurations, and software versions before beginning this restore
process.
Note: Be sure to connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the ports located on the rear of SMA I
before beginning the restore. Refer to the Compaq SANworks Management Appliance Configuration
Guide that shipped with the SMA I for information on SMA I ports.

QuickRestoring your appliance.
