Introduction This document describes how to perform Oracle Backup Set ZDB tracked for Instant Recovery, and how to perform Instant Recovery of Automatic Storage Management (ASM)-based databases. Automatic Storage Management (ASM) Automatic Storage Management is an integrated file system and volume manager built to handle Oracle database files. It is not a general purpose file system or clustered file system, so it cannot be used for binaries, trace files and other non-Oracle files.

Enabling atomic split Atomic split support is enabled and controlled through three omnirc variables:  SSEA_ATOMIC_SPLIT 0 Disabled (default) 1 Enabled  SSEA_ATOMIC_SPLIT_MULTIPLE_CTGROUPS 0 Strict mode (default) Only one CT group inside a ZDB is allowed. For an Oracle ASM environment, it is expected to operate in STRICT mode. 1 Multiple mode Multiple CT groups are allowed inside a ZDB, but each CT group is split individually.

Connect to the ASM instance on each inactive node, and execute ALTER DISKGROUP MOUNT; to mount the disk groups. 6. Bring the database instances on all inactive nodes to the mount state or open state manually. Omnirc variables required during an Instant Recovery session For both clustered and standalone environments Set the omnirc variable ORA_ASM_HOME on the application host if ASM home is different from Oracle home.
