6. In the Devices and Media property pages, the devices and media for restore are
automatically selected.
Note that you can change the device used for the restore. Therefore, you have
the possibility of using a different device for a restore than the one that was used
for the backup. See the online Help index: selecting devices for restore.
7. Click Restore. Review your selection, and then click Finish to start a restore
session.
The restore session messages are displayed in the Results Area.
8. If you are restoring a VSS writer that requires a custom restore, continue manually,
using the writers specific methods, if it is provided by a writer. Refer to the writers
documentation.
Restore options
The following restore options are specific to the Data Protector MS Volume Shadow
Copy integration.
Restore to another client By default, the components or files are
restored to the client from which the
application data was backed up.
However, you may restore the data
to another VSS client if you specify the
Restore to another client option. The
new target Microsoft VSS client must
be a part of the Data Protector cell.
For component restore, it must also
run on the same platform and have
the MS Volume Shadow Copy
Integration software component
installed. For file restore, the MS
Volume Shadow Copy Integration
software component is not required.
Restore into the following directory By default, you restore the data to the
same directory from which it was
backed up (it can be on the original
client or on some other client which
you selected).
However, if you specify the Restore
into the following directory option,
