Introduction
This whitepaper describes the procedure for performing Instant Recovery in HP-UX LVM
mirroring configuration using HP StorageWorks EVA and Data Protector.
The reader is expected to read the whitepaper available for the extension of SMISA for HP
StorageWorks EVA which enables you to perform ZDB (zero downtime backup) in an HP-UX
LVM mirroring configuration before proceeding further.
The LVM support functionality referred in this whitepaper is available with a patch to Data
Protector 5.50. Please refer to Data Protector Support Matrices for the patch number
Setup details
We have used two EVAs. Both the arrays contain one physical volume group each (PVG-1
and PVG-2). Both the physical volume groups are contained in one logical volume group. The
logical volumes on one physical volume group are mirrored on the other group. Please refer to
the diagram below for the details of the setup.
