MSDEWriter is used for the backup of MS SQL Server.
Transportable snapshots are also supported. However this is only supported with MS Windows
Server 2003 – Enterprise and Data Center Edition. Additionally the VSS Hardware Provider should
be installed and configured on Application and Backup Server.
Data Protector is using the generic VSS interface and can therefore support all VSS Providers,
which are implemented according to the VSS framework guidelines. However, there are some that
have been tested with Data Protector. Following is a list of tested Providers:
