Data Protector 5.5 Device Support Matrix

Windows 2003 StorPort port driver (minimum StorPort port driver version 5.2.3790.2630) is supported with Windows 2003 SP1 class drivers.
Windows 2003 tape and robotic class drivers need to be enabled. Microsoft recommends to update Windows 2003 SP1 STORPORT.SYS
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916048/en-us) and to update the tape class driver TAPE.SYS (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907418/en-us).
Windows Server 2003 with SP1 limits block sizes to 64kb during a tape transfer. This limitation may limit the performance of high performance
tape drives that use larger block sizes. Larger record sizes are recommended with Ultrium tape devices. In Data Protector larger block sizes are
possible up to 1024 Kbytes.
Data Protector 5.5 supports mixed media libraries. For further information please refer to the Data Protector Administrator’s Guide.
Tape pools recycle management and a spare pool configuration is not supported when the tape library is populated with incompatible media from
the same media type.
The IBM AIX and SNI Unix media agent supports drives only; the library robotic must be connected to a system that supports a Data Protector
Media Agent with robotic support i.e. an HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Linux or a Windows system.
On HP-UX libraries with more than one SCSI interface, the robotic control is not supported on an EISA-SCSI card.
STK ACSLS libraries are supported on HP-UX, Windows, Solaris and AIX media agents. However, it is possible for all other Data Protector media
agents to control ACSLS robotics indirectly through a HP-UX, Windows, Solaris and AIX media agent.
ADIC DAS libraries are supported on the HP-UX, Windows x86 and AIX media agents. However, it is possible for all other Data Protector media
agents to control DAS robotics indirectly through a HP-UX and AIX media agent.
On Novell Netware, fibre channel attached devices must not have SCSI ID (or target ID) higher than 15.
Data Protector Magazine support is supported only with DDS and DLT tape drives.
Some devices do not support SCSI auto-configuration and must be configured manually.
Data Protector allows the sharing of multi-drive libraries (with more than one SCSI-II interface) between multiple systems and multiple cells, the
robotic control running on an HP-UX, Windows, OpenVMS or Sun Solaris system.
A library’s drives and robotics can be shared between multiple cells using the Manager-of-Managers server cell and CMMDB (Centralized Media
Management Database).
The library extension license is required for supporting a library with more than 60 slots.
Magnetic Optical WORM (Write once read many) media is not supported with Data Protector. Although all magneto-optical drives do support
magneto-optical WORM (write once read many) media, only the magneto-optical re-writable media is supported with Data Protector.
