HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 1. Abstract This document describes steps necessary to implement support for Lotus Domino Cluster with Data Protector. The versions of HP OpenView Storage Data Protector addressed in this document are Data Protector A.05.10 and Data Protector A.05.50. 2. Introduction The Lotus Domino cluster components are installed with the Lotus Domino 6 Enterprise server or the Lotus Domino 6 Utility server.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 4. Overview of Lotus Domino cluster 4.1. Replicas To make a database available to users in different locations, on different networks, or in different time zones, replicas are created. If replica of a certain database is available on one or more local server, then users need not connect to a single central server. All replicas share a replica ID which is assigned when the database is first created.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 4.3. Failover in a cluster A cluster's ability to redirect requests from one server to another is called failover. When a user tries to access a database on a server that is unavailable or in heavy use, Domino directs the user to a replica of the database on another server in the cluster. The Cluster Manager on each cluster server sends out probes to each of the other cluster servers to determine the availability of each server.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 3 4 5 6 7 8 Instead of displaying a message that says the server is not responding; Notes looks in its cluster cache to see if this server is a member of a cluster and to find the names of the other servers in the cluster. (When a Notes client first accesses a server in a cluster, the names of all the servers in the cluster are added to the cluster cache on the client. This cache is updated every 15 minutes.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Manager and Data Protector media agent will be defined at the time of Data Protector configuration. The next step will be to configure the Data Protector Lotus Notes Integration. For more information about configuring Lotus integration with Data Protector 5.10, please refer to the section “Configuring the Integration” in the chapter “Integrating Lotus Domino R5 Server and Data Protector” of “HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Integration Guide”. For Data Protector 5.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector The Lotus Domino Cluster Server containing the replicated database will preserve its latest state even if the “Push Replication style” is used when replicating the restored replica database from the restored target Domino Cluster Server to the Domino Cluster Server containing the replicated database.
HP OpenView Storage Data Protector recovered” database will be recovered to the latest state just like the replica database. The state gathered after the point in time recovery will be lost. If the “point in time recovered” database is not to be replicated and recovered to the last consistent state, then it should never be replicated with the “Pull” or “Push/Pull” “Replication style” from the restored Domino Cluster Server.
