Backup and restore of GroupWise

HP OpenView Storage Data Protector
1. Abstract
This document describes steps necessary to implement support for GroupWise Support
with Data Protector 5.1 and 5.5. The configuration method provided in this document
is the recommended method of configuration, but not the only method of configuration.
Note:
This document covers the GroupWise support in both, standalone and clustered
environments. However, since the configuration in clustered environment is
complicated, all examples provided in this document are cluster specific.
2. Introduction
GroupWise 6.x ships with the GroupWise Target Service Agent (GWTSA) that can be
used with a backup and restore application to back up your entire GroupWise system,
domain, post office, or individual databases.
GWTSA provides reliable backups of a running GroupWise system by successfully
backing up open files and locked files, rather than skipping them as some backup
software do.
GWTSA is a GroupWise-specific API that works with other backup software to create
a copy of GroupWise data. It has no user interface of its own, but its presence
running along with other backup software provides GroupWise options in the backup
software that otherwise would not be available.
GWTSA backs up standard GroupWise directories and files; extra directories and
files that appear within a standard GroupWise directory structure are not backed up
by GWTSA.
The following lists the directories and files that are backed up by GWTSA:
Location Directories Subdirectories/Fi
les Backed Up
Domain domain_directory WPDOMAIN.DB
WPDOMAIN.DC
WPHOST.DC
GWDOM.DC
GWPO.DC
