2.20 Volumes
A volume is space allocated from a storage pool. You can attach volumes to a server profiles
through a volume attachment.
In the resource model:
• A volume exists in only one storage pool, which exists on only one storage system.
• A volume can be attached to zero, one, or many server profiles.

Relationship to other resources
A volume resource is associated with the following resources in the resource model summary
diagram (page 32):
• One storage pool, and through it, one storage system

2.21 Volume Templates
A volume template defines the settings for the volumes created from it. Use a volume templates to
create multiple volumes with the same configuration.
In the resource model:
• A volume template can be associated with one storage pool.

2.22 SAN Managers
SAN Managers enables you to bring systems that manage SANs under management of the
appliance. When you add a SAN manager to the appliance, the SANs that it manages become
available to associate with Fibre Channel networks that you can attach to server profiles.
