1 Introduction HP OneView for VMware vCenter Log Insight (also known as HP OneView for vCenter Log Insight) provides log aggregation and indexing with search and analytics capabilities. HP OneView for vCenter Log Insight collects, imports, and analyzes logs to provide information related to systems, services, and applications. Aggregation Fields that are extracted from log data can be used for aggregation.
2 Installing and configuring HP OneView for VMware vCenter Log Insight Installation To install HP OneView for vCenter Log Insight: 1. Download the HP OneView for VMware vCenter Log Insight Content Pack. 2. Log in to your vCenter Log Insight server’s web interface. 3. From the navigation pane, click Overview, and then select Content Packs from the Gear icon menu. 4. Select Import Content Pack at the bottom of the navigation pane. An Import Content Pack screen is displayed. 5. Click Browse...
. 7. Select HP OneView for VMware vCenter Log Insight.vlcp. Select Install as content pack, and then click Import. Configuration In order to use HP OneView vCenter Log Insight, you must configure the iLO and OA syslog settings to point to your vCenter Log Insight server IP address. 6 • For more information about configuring iLO, see the HP iLO User Guide. • For more information about configuring OA, see the HP BladeSystem Onboard Administrator User Guide.
Scripting the configuration of iLO Remote Syslog settings There are a number of ways to configure the iLO Remote Syslog settings on HP ProLiant servers. For details on each option, see the HP iLO Scripting and Command Line Guide at http://www.hp.com/ go/ilo/docs. The following is an example of one way to script the configuration of these settings for a number of servers: 1. Download and install the HP Lights-Out Configuration Utility. 2. Create an XML text file named syslog.
