Description Insight Control for vCenter is delivered as a single integrated application. The application consists of three modules. The core module is required; the Server Module for vCenter and Storage Module for vCenter are optional components that you select during installation. Core Module Provides the framework required by the Server Module for vCenter and Storage Module for vCenter.
Insight Control for vCenter is supported on the following operating systems: • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2 • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enhancements Enhancements to this version of Insight Control for vCenter software include: Core module • ESXi 5.
Prerequisites During the installation process, be prepared to provide the identification and login information for each of the following: • Insight Control for vCenter server • vCenter Server • HP SIM (if installing the Server Module for vCenter) • iLO (if installing the Server Module for vCenter) • Onboard Administrator (if installing the Server Module for vCenter) • Virtual Connect Manager (if installing the Server Module for vCenter) • VMware host credentials • SNMP community string Insta
• Insight Control for vCenter supports firmware discovery only on ESXi hosts that have the HP ESXi offline bundle for VMware installed. The ESXi user name and password are required for communication with CIM providers. Suggested action: Verify that the HP ESXi offline bundle is installed for all ESXi hosts. • Multiple credentials for iLO or the Onboard Administrator in the Insight Control for vCenter password database can cause Insight Control for vCenter to function unpredictably.
• For upgrades only: On Microsoft Windows Server 2003 systems, the Storage Module for vCenter is unable to delete a temporary file created during the upgrade process. Suggested action: Perform the following steps: 1. Start the installer. 2. Select Upgrade, and then select Storage or Storage and Server. 3. When prompted, select the option Upgrade – Upgrade HP Insight Control Storage Module for vCenter to this version. 4. When prompted, restart the server. 5.
