HP Network Protector SDN Application Administrator Guide
9 Backing up and restoring the application
Backup
You cannot backup and restore the application separately. When you back up the Controller, the
application is backed up along with the Controller. To back up the application, follow the same
process as backing up the HP VAN SDN Controller. For more information about backing up HP
VAN SDN Controller, see the HP VAN SDN Controller Administrator Guide in the SDN information
library at http://www.hp.com/go/sdn/infolib.
Restore
The restore process of application is not exactly the same as restoring HP VAN SDN Controller.
After you start the restore process, complete the following steps.
1. Uninstall the application.
2. Complete the following initial HP VAN SDN Controller restore steps.
a. Uninstall the controller.
b. Set CTL_RESTORE_INSTALL_MODE=True
c. Reinstall the failed controller.
3. Install the application. For more information about installing application, see the HP Network
Protector SDN Application Installation Guide in the SDN information library at
http://www.hp.com/go/sdn/infolib.
4. Continue and complete the remaining HP VAN SDN Controller restore steps.
IMPORTANT: If you restore HP VAN SDN Controller without installing application, then HP
Network Protector SDN Application packet daemon and other files outside the /opt/sdn directory
structure will not be restored.
