Enabling hybrid mode on the HP VAN SDN Controller
You must enable hybrid mode on the HP VAN SDN Controller so that it supports hybrid switches
in hybrid mode. When hybrid mode is enabled on the controller, the controller delegates normal
packet forwarding to the controlled switches, but overrides these switches for non-standard
packet-forwarding decisions required by Net Optimizer - Lync for specific packet types.
For information about how the SDN Controller operates when hybrid mode is enabled, see HP
VAN SDN Controller Administrator Guide.
To enable hybrid mode on the HP VAN SDN Controller:
1. In the HP VAN SDN Controller, select GeneralConfigurations.
2. Click com.hp.sdn.ctl.of.impl.ControllerManager.
3. Click Modify at the top of the page.
4. In the Value text box for hybrid mode enter:
true
5. Click Apply.
The HP VAN SDN Controller has hybrid mode enabled.
6. Restart the HP VAN SDN Controller.
a. Close any instance of the web interface in which the controller may be running.
b. Using the command prompt at the root access on the Ubuntu system (sudo), restart the
controller with the following:
~$ sudo service sdnc restart
NOTE: In a controller team environment, a configuration change on one controller
propagates to the other controllers on the team. However, to implement a Hybrid mode
configuration change, it is necessary to restart the controller. If the controller is operating
in a team environment, it is necessary to restart each controller in the team, as described
above.
