2 Preparations before installing
Supported environments/topologies
Before installing Net Optimizer - Lync, ensure that your environment and planned topology meet
the requirements listed in the HP VAN SDN Controller and Applications Support Matrix.
• Ensure that your system has Internet access and meets the hardware requirements. For more
information, see the HP VAN SDN Controller and Applications Support Matrix.
• Ensure that your HP VAN SDN Controller is at the version required by Net Optimizer - Lync.
See the HP VAN SDN Controller and Applications Support Matrix for information about the
required version.
See the HP VAN SDN Controller Installation Guide for information on how to install the HP
VAN SDN Controller. If you are running an earlier version of the HP VAN SDN Controller,
uninstall the earlier version of the HP VAN SDN Controller and install the required version,
as described in the HP VAN SDN Controller Installation Guide.
• Ensure that the HP VAN SDN Controller has been configured ready for use. For more
information, see the HP VAN SDN Controller Administrator Guide.
• Ensure that you have the authority to install or uninstall applications on HP VAN SDN Controller.

Administrator Guide.
Downloading the Net Optimizer - Lync software
To download the Net Optimizer - Lync software:
1. Go to the HP Networking support site at www.hp.com/networking/support.
2. Enter the Net Optimizer - Lync product number J9985AAE in the Auto Search field, as shown
in Figure 1.

3. Select the check box next to the Net Optimizer - Lync product, and then click Display selected.
