Event log table contents
• Time—Indicates when the event occurred.
• Level—Indicates the severity level of the event log:
INFO—Useful informational messages that highlight the progress of the Net Optimizer -
Lync.
◦
◦ WARN—Events that have the potential to cause Net Optimizer - Lync or Lync SDN to
stop, but Net Optimizer - Lync continues to run. For example, a Lync SDN manager might
be unreacheable, but the Net Optimizer - Lync can continue to function using the other
Lync SDN managers.
◦ ERROR—Events that have caused Net Optimizer - Lync to stop. These events require user
intervention to resolve.
• Message—Presents details of the event log.
• Area—Indicates where the event was generated.
Refreshing event logs
The Event Logs page is a static display. New events do not automatically appear in the event logs
table until the page is refreshed.
To view the latest event logs, click Refresh on the top of the Event Logs page.
NOTE: You can also refresh the event logs view by refreshing the web page using the Browser
refresh function. This operation refreshes all components of the Net Optimizer - Lync and might
take more time than the refresh function provided by the Event Logs function.
Filtering event logs
If you want to view events that occurred in a certain time range, define the time range in the Event
Logs page.
NOTE: Filtering unnecessary events does not remove them from the Net Optimizer - Lync database.
To filter events:
1. In the Event Logs page, click Filter.
The Filter dialog box appears.
2. Specify the time range during which the events occurred. Click the From and To boxes to
display a calendar for setting the time range.
3. Click Apply.
The events matching the criterion display in the Event Logs page.
Viewing logs in HP VAN SDN Controller
The logging information for the SDN Controller, including that of the Net Optimizer - Lync, is
maintained in the /var/log/sdn/virgo/logs/log.log file on the controller.
To view logs specific to the Net Optimizer - Lync saved in HP VAN SDN Controller database, enter
the following command using the Ubuntu command prompt:
tail –f /var/log/sdn/virgo/logs/log.log | grep Lync
Exporting logs of interest from HP VAN SDN Controller
After you have installed Net Optimizer - Lync successfully, the VegaDeamonMonitor starts to remove
support log entries specific to Net Optimizer - Lync that are more than 15 days every 15 minutes,
