7 Viewing the Lync sessions
The Session table provides detailed information about the Lync sessions initiated in the most recent
15 days. Typically, a Lync session refers to a Lync call that is initiated by a Lync user and establishes
a connection with a callee successfully. The statuses of Lync sessions include:
Active—When a Lync session starts, it is in active status until it ends.
Inactive—When a Lync ends, it is in inactive status.
The Net Optimizer - Lync collects session information and stores the session records in its database.
The Net Optimizer - Lync database keeps the records of sessions that occurred in the most recent
15 days.
NOTE: The records of sessions older than 15 days are deleted from the Net Optimizer - Lync
database.
The Net Optimizer - Lync session function enables you to:
View the Lync session table for basic information of sessions.
View detailed Lync session information and the corresponding flow entries.
Filter Lync sessions.
NOTE: To monitor sessions in the session table, you must first ensure that the IP addresses of the
related Lync SDN Managers are registered in the Net Optimizer - Lync. For more information, see
Viewing added Lync SDN Managers.
Accessing the Sessions page
You can access the Sessions page using one of the following methods:
Navigation menu
1. Click the Expand icon on the top of the main frame.
The Net Optimizer - Lync navigation menu appears.
2. Select Net Optimizer - LyncSessions to enter the Sessions page.
Navigation tree
1. If the navigation tree is hidden, move the cursor over the left margin, and then click the
highlighted Hide/Expand icon .
The navigation tree appears on the left of the main frame.
2. Click Net Optimizer - Lync from the navigation tree, and then click Sessions.
The Sessions page appears.
The Sessions page consists of the following two tables:
Session table—Displays the basic information of the sessions recorded in the Net Optimizer
- Lync database.
Flow entry table—Displays flow entries related information associated with the session you
select in the session table.

The Lync session table presents basic information about the sessions recorded in its database.
