HP Network Optimizer SDN Application - Microsoft Lync 1.0 Administrator Guide

The Best Effort reasons chart, shown in Figure 9, displays the number of flows that defaulted to a
Best effort QoS in the most recent two days and the reasons that Net Optimizer - Lync could not
mark the flow with a DSCP value.
The y-axis indicates the different Best effort reasons, and the x-axis indicates the number of flows
marked as Best Efforts for the corresponding reasons for the most recent two days.
Figure 9 Best effort reasons chart
The Best effort reasons include:
Over Grace License Limit—Indicates the failure reason is that the total number of the concurrent
users in the flow exceeds the license limit (number of grace users). For more information about
grace license limit, see Viewing Active Sessions/Users In Time chart.
Out of resource—Indicates that the failure of the DSCP marking on a flow is caused by a
FlowMod error or the flow table is full.
A FlowMod error is a configuration error on the switch that prevents flows from receiving
DSCP values.
A flow table records network activities on the switches, including but not limited to Net
Optimizer - Lync activities. When a flow starts, it appears as an entry in the flow table
until it ends. If the flow table is full, new flows cannot come in or receive DSCP values.
After a flow ends, the corresponding entry in the flow table is cleared, thus making it
possible for a new flow to get in and receive DSCP values.
Unknown host connected device—Indicates the failure reason is that the endpoint device that
host connected is unknown. For example, the end device does not support OpenFlow.
Others—Indicates the failure of the DSCP marking on a flow in the edge switch is caused by
any other reason than one of those listed above.
