README for the HP Neoview Performance Analysis Tools (R2.5)

NOTE: The key difference between the .msi and .exe files is that only the .exe file checks for
the required .NET 3.5 runtime:
• If you use setup.exe and if the .NET runtime is not present, the installer downloads the
runtime from the Microsoft website before preceding with the Neoview Performance Analysis
Tools installation.
• If you use NPAInstaller.msi directly, you must confirm .NET and other prerequisite
software is already installed on your client workstation.
If the workstation is inside a firewall or if you plan to install Neoview Performance Analysis
Tools by invoking the .msi file directly, you should manually download the .NET 3.5 runtime
before installing Neoview Performance Analysis Tools.
You can install the software interactively or in unattended or quiet mode.
Installation Requirements
The Neoview Performance Analysis Tools client requires the HP ODBC 2.5 client driver for
Windows to connect to a Neoview platform. You must download the HP ODBC 2.5 client driver
for the current release from the HP software download site and install it before you use the
Neoview Performance Analysis Tools client.

NOTE: If another version of the Neoview Performance Analysis Tools is already installed, you
must uninstall it before continuing. To uninstall Neoview Performance Analysis Tools, click
Start>All Programs>HP Neoview Performance Analysis Tools>Uninstall HP Neoview
Performance Analysis Tools.
1. Open HP_Neoview_Performance_Analysis_Tools_V2.5.0.zip using WinZip and
double-click setup.exe. WinZip creates a temporary directory and runs the setup for you.
Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
When the installation is complete, Neoview Performance Analysis Tools prompts you to
click the Close button to exit the setup program.
2. Start Neoview Performance Analysis Tools by clicking Start > All Programs > HP Neoview
Performance Analysis Tools. Choose the tool that you want to use.
Configure the ODBC Client Data Source
After you install the Neoview Performance Analysis Tools on your workstation, configure the
ODBC client data source. The ODBC client data source, used in NPAT to connect to the Neoview
platform, must have the same name as the platform-side data source (DSN). The name for the
