README for the HP Database Manager (HPDM) (R2.5)

Is the part number assigned to the client product (for example, 654321_001).
The HP Database Manager is installed using either of these installer applications, which are
included in the HP_Neoview_Database_Manager_Vx.y.z_nnnnnn_nnn.zip archive:
• A Windows installer file HPDatabaseManagerInstaller.msi
• A setup.exe file
NOTE: The key difference between the .msi and .exe files is that only the .exe file checks for
the required .NET 3.5 runtime:
• If you use HPDatabaseManagerInstaller.msi directly, you must confirm that .NET
and other prerequisite software is already installed on the client workstation.
• If you use setup.exe and if the .NET runtime is not present, the installer downloads the
runtime from the Microsoft Web site before proceeding with the HPDM installation.
If the workstation is inside a firewall or if you plan to install HPDM by invoking the .msi file
directly, you should manually download the .NET 3.5 runtime before installing HPDM.
Installation Requirements
The HPDM client requires the HP ODBC 2.0 client driver for Windows to connect to a Neoview
platform. Download the HP ODBC 2.0 client driver for the current release from the HP software
download site and install it prior to running the HP Database Manager.

Installation Instructions
1. Uninstall any currently installed version of HPDM, if necessary. When upgrading from an
older version of HPDM to a newer version, you do not need to uninstall the older version
first. In an upgrade, HPDM overwrites the files from the older version. When downgrading
from a newer version to an older version, HP recommends that you uninstall the newer
(installed) version of HPDM before installing the older (down-rev) version.
To uninstall HPDM, click Start > All Programs > HP Database Manager > Uninstall HP
Database Manager.
2. Open the HP_Neoview_Database_Manager_Vx.y.z_nnnnnn_nnn.zip using Winzip
and double click setup.exe. Winzip creates a temp directory and runs the setup for you.
Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
