Checking Version Compatibility Before installing the client product, you must check that the product is compatible with the version of the Neoview release installed on the Neoview platform. For all client products, refer to the Neoview Client and Platform Compatibility Reference for version compatibility information. This document is available at http://www.hp.com/go/neoviewdocs.
nnnnnn_nnn Is the part number assigned to the client product (for example, 654321_001). The HP Database Manager is installed using either of these installer applications, which are included in the HP_Neoview_Database_Manager_Vx.y.z_nnnnnn_nnn.zip archive: • A Windows installer file HPDatabaseManagerInstaller.msi • A setup.exe file NOTE: The key difference between the .msi and .exe files is that only the .exe file checks for the required .NET 3.5 runtime: • If you use HPDatabaseManagerInstaller.
NOTE: Note these considerations: • If you are installing HPDM on Windows Vista and you are logged on as a non-administrator, you need to install the files in a non-default location (for example, “C:\user\your_logon_name\HP Database Manager.” Vista does not allow non-administrators to install files into the “C:\Program Files” folder.
d. Field Description Your Name for System An alias name to identify this Neoview platform. The system name can be up to 32 characters in length, and consist of letters, digits, and the underscore character. Data Source Specifies the name of the data source. If no data source is specified, or if the specified client-side data source cannot be found on the server, the client connects to the default data source (TDM_Default_DataSource). User Name Your user name.
CAUTION: This procedure should only be performed by an experienced Neoview platform user who has direct knowledge of the capacity of the disk drives in the target Neoview system. For assistance, contact your HP representative. NOTE: Perform this procedure once on every Neoview system that is managed by HPDM; subsequent instantiations of HPDM do not require that this step be performed again.
