README for HP Neoview Release 2.5 (R2.5)
1. Checks the location specified by CertificateDir and CertificateFile to determine
whether a certificate exists at that location. If the application did not specify a directory, the
driver checks the user's home directory. If the application did not specify a filename, the
driver assumes the name SYSTEM_NAME.cer, where SYSTEM_NAME consists of the first
five characters of the Neoview platform name.
2. If no certificate for the Neoview platform exists at the expected location and if automatic
download is permitted, the driver downloads the certificate from the Neoview platform to
the location specified by certificateFileActive. If the application did not specify that
attribute, the driver assumes the name SYSTEM_NAMEActive.cer, where SYSTEM_NAME
consists of the first five characters of the Neoview platform name. If automatic download
is prohibited, an error occurs. If automatic download is prohibited, an error occurs.
Retrieving the User's Current Role
To get the role in which a user is currently logged on, you can use the following function on the
HPT4Connection object:

HP Database Manager (HPDM)
The HP Database Manager contains a significant number of new features and functions for

NOTE: To connect to a Neoview platform, the HP Database Manager requires the HP Neoview
ODBC Driver for Windows (HP ODBC 2.0 client driver for Windows). Download the HP Neoview
ODBC Driver for Windows from the HP Software Depot site and install it before running the
HP Database Manager. For complete information about installing HPDM, see the README for
the HP Database Manager (HPDM).
Enhanced User Interface
Visual interfaces are enhanced and simplified to make it easier to navigate and use HPDM:
• Area buttons now include full-color icons.
• The navigation tree pane is simplified. The My Other Systems folder has been removed,
and all system definitions now reside in the My Systems folder.
• New icons for nodes in the tree pane show the connected state of the system.
• A new toolbar provides fast access to commonly used functions and tools, such as NCI, the
SQL Whiteboard, and Metric Miner.
• The HPDM header is enhanced to provide more information about connection, system, role,
and user information.
