Viewing Password Quality and Control Policy Settings
The Security Manager can use the Password tab of the HPDM Policies dialog to view the current
password quality and control policy settings. He or she can use the NCI INFO POLICY command
to view the settings of all security policies in a single text display.
For the syntax of the INFO POLICY command, see “INFO POLICY Command” (page 50)
For additional information about using the HPDM Policies dialog to view policy settings, see
the HPDM Online Help.
Changing Password Quality and Control Policy Settings
The Security Manager can use the Password tab of the HPDM Policies dialog to modify any of
the current password quality and control policy settings. He or she can also use the NCI ALTER
POLICY command as described in this manual, but HPDM presents a clearer and more convenient
interface for this task.
Changes in policy take effect within five minutes.
Changes affect only passwords defined after the change. All existing passwords remain valid,
even if they do not comply with the new criteria.
NOTE: If you change password quality rules, it makes sense to notify locally authenticated
users so that, when they next change their own passwords, they can choose passwords that
comply with the new criteria.
For the syntax of the ALTER POLICY command, see ALTER POLICY Command” (page 51) .
For additional information about using the HPDM Policies dialog to change policy settings, see
the HPDM Online Help.
Viewing and Updating the User Management and Authentication Logging Policies
The user management and authentication policies determine what information is logged for later
exposure through the views described in “User Management Views” (page 120), and how long
the information in those views is maintained. HPDM provides access to these views through the
Security tab, as described in the HPDM Online Help.
These policies apply to locally and remotely authenticated users.
