Neoview User Management and Security Administration Guide (R2.5)

NOTE: No Neoview client, other than HPDM, emits a message telling users to disconnect
and reconnect after a policy change. HP recommends a practice like the following in
connection with policy changes that require users to disconnect and reconnect:
Before changing the policy, the Security Administrator notifies all users that a policy
change is scheduled for a certain time or is about to occur, and that they must disconnect
from the Neoview platform before the change. It is common to send one notification in
advance and another right before the policy change.
In most cases, users have no need to know what change is being implemented. A notable
exception is that, if the change requires power database users or platform users to
provide role passwords in order to log on, those users must be so informed and the
appropriate role passwords distributed securely.
After changing the policy, the Security Administrator notifies all users to reconnect to
the Neoview platform.
For detailed information about stopping and restarting data sources in HPDM, see the HPDM
Online Help. For detailed information about stopping and starting data sources in NCI, see the
Neoview Command Interface (NCI) Guide.
Viewing and Updating the Password Encryption Policies
The Neoview password encryption policies are a set of parameters related to password encryption
and certificate handling. These policies apply to any user who logs on to the Neoview platform
from a workstation running ODBC or JDBC clients.
