Neoview Control Query Default (CQD) Reference Guide (R2.5)

Setting CQDs
Different methods are available to set a CQD depending on whether you want to test or implement
a CQD.
Testing a CQD
To test a CQD in order to evaluate the effect of a CQD on a query, use one of these methods:
Use Neoview Command Interface (NCI) to enter the CQD prior to executing the query or
displaying the plan of the query. These commands are examples of commands that can be
entered using NCI:
control query default last0_mode on
cqd last0_mode ON
Refer to the Neoview Command Interface (NCI) Guide for information about using NCI to run
SQL statements interactively.
Use the Query Workbench. Refer to the Neoview Performance Analysis Tools User Guide for
information about using the Query Workbench.
For both of these CQD testing options, the CQD is reset when the session is disconnected.
Implementing a CQD
To implement a CQD, use one of these methods:
NOTE: HP recommends that you review use of a CQD with your HP representative.
Use Neoview Workload Management Services (WMS) to add the CQD as a WMS rule. The
advantage of using WMS is that the CQD can be added online and configured to execute at
the start of the next client session. Refer to the Neoview Workload Management Services Guide
for information about this method.
Use HP Database Manager (HPDM) to apply the CQD to the data source. The disadvantage
of using HPDM is that the data source must be restarted to ensure the CQD executes. Refer
to the HP Database Manager (HPDM) User Guide for information about this method.
Work with your HP representative to make the CQD a default setting for HP SQL.
