README for the HP Neoview JDBC Type 4 Driver (Upd1 R2.4 SP1)
Installation Package
The HP Neoview JDBC Type 4 Driver can now be installed from a Windows Installer file named
hp4jdbc_2.4.v.msi. You can install the software interactively or in unattended or quiet mode.
To override the default when you
launch the MSI installer, specify:

If any element of the pathname
contains a space or other special
character, enclose the pathname in
quotation marks, (for example,

Alternatively, you can install the driver from the .tar file or the self-extracting .jar file:
• As a downloadable TAR file, hpt4jdbc_2.4.<v>.tar
• As a self-extracting JAR file, hpt4jdbc_installer_2.4.<v>.jar
Note that you do not need WinZip installed on your workstation to install the driver from
self-extracting JAR file.

By default, a new version of the JDBC Type 4 driver will be installed in these directories unless
you specify different directories during installation:

• /samples/ResultSetSample
• /samples/StatementSample
• /samples/common
Installation Requirements
The HP Neoview JDBC Type 4 Driver requires Java enabled platforms that support the Sun
Microsystems Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.4.1 or higher.
Installation Instructions
Downloading the JDBC Type 4 Driver
1. Locate or create a download directory or folder for the TAR or self-extracting JAR file
anywhere on the client workstation.
2. Close all applications running on the workstation, except the Web browser.
